Divisional Secretariat - Ruwanwella

 

Expansion of institution

 

Until 1972 the Divisional revenue office of Yatiyantota performed all official duties and services of Egodapata pattuwa and Megodapata Pattuwa which belonged to ruwanwella eloctrorate. Later the Assistant Government  Agent  office was established for Ruwanwella division based on government policies in 1973. There were 9 Grama niladhari divition named as  Wendala ,Walgampatha,Indurana,Bopetta,Imbulana,Waharaka,Mapitigama,Kannathtota,Galapitamada, Lewangama . The staff of this office then comprised of a Assistant  Government  Agent , a staff assistant, a chief clerk and about another 7 clerks, a office assistant , a driver  and a watcher.

 

Later 9 Grama niladhari divisions gradually increased up to 11 divisions. Thereafter the Grama niladhari  divisions developed up to 24 because of the  attachment of special service officers as Grama niladhari officers at about 1985. In 1989 Agricultural officers and cultivation officers were appointed as Grama niladhari officers. Therefore the numbers of Grama niladhari divisions increased up to 38.

 

In 1993 this Assistant Agent Office was turned in to divisional secretariat  office and all community services were provided through this office.

 

Until then all official duties such as payment of salaries to officers and payment of pensions were done by the Government Agent Office of Kegalla.

 

Now this office has developed up to 115 official staff to make it possible to provide best and satisfactory service to community.
